RUGGEDISED HEADSET ITE HEARING PROTECTION

We were approached by a major defence manufacturer to ask for expertise in the design and development of an ITE headset for Hearing Protection of active service personnel. The customer had an existing product that was expensive to produce and not very comfortable to wear. Our brief was to make a more cost effective, comfortable and high performance communications headset with an impressive hearing protection level. Working closely with the customer we were able to tailor the design to reduce the manufacturing time by 50%, the cost by 40% and improve the system performance by 30%.  All in all we produced a product that could be considered the most effective system available but at a greatly reduced cost. HBL instigated its product realisation process to enable the product to meet all of the customer’s extremely rigorous demands. We are pleased to say that this product is now in production and is being used in the field protecting the user against harmful exposure to loud noises.
