Sensate wellbeing device

In July 2020, angel and crowdfunded start-up Bioself were searching for a new manufacturing partner when they got in touch with HBL. The customer’s product concept was a small pebble-shaped device to be placed on the user’s chest, designed to vibrate at certain frequencies that calm the body and slow heart rate by resonating through the chest into the Vagus Nerve.”

Bioself had initially developed their idea and began producing prototypes alongside a local design company. However, following considerable quality issues and production chain limitations, they were motivated to find a partner with better proficiencies and capacity to support an increase in their production units – HBL were ideally positioned for this. We worked in collaboration with the customer to smooth out the manufacturing process for the Sensate, resolving quality issues, finalising the development stage and making the product more production friendly.

The product went to market in October 2020, to great critical and financial success, prompting an extended contract for HBL. The work on this product marks HBL’s expansion into new industry offerings. Bioself represents our own business growth; the wellbeing sector is a positive space for HBL to move into, especially in light of the changing industries and the way the pandemic’s affected consumer trends and business operations.
